Human society is facing serious health risk caused by various environmental problems. The Centre for Environment and Health, Peking University is established in October 2007 to promote the interdisciplinary research on environment and health based on extensive research programs of social, natural, and medical sciences in Peking University, and to provide scientific, technological, and policy support to the national environment and health policy.

As an important research organization for environment and health at Peking University, the Centre for Environment and Health is building a strong program to integrate basic research and policy support, to encourage scientific exchange between environment and health related research disciplinary, and to strives for the first class education of students and young scientists in environment and health. Since the establishment, the Centre for Environment and Health has actively organized the scientists and experts from the fields of environmental sciences, chemistry, basic and clinical medical science, and public health in Peking University to carry out interdisciplinary research in environment and health.
